To My Constituents and the Public:
Welcome to the Les Ihara Jr. Senate District 10 re-election campaign website. Here you’ll find information, graphics, and other materials referenced in my 2026 campaign mailer.
The purpose of my campaign is to share what forty years of public service has taught me and how we can bring lasting change to the Legislature by strengthening Hawaii’s civic culture to complement politics.
During my years in the Legislature, I’ve learned that laws reflect more than policy. They also reflect the Legislature’s habits, values, and ways of working. I’ve also learned that another culture matters just as much – the civic culture of the people we serve. Good government depends on both. Civic culture does not compete, but complements the political culture.
When citizens bring caring, belonging, and responsible action into public life, they strengthen the relationships that make better governance possible.
Each of us already practices these qualities with family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. When we repeatedly bring these same habits into our communities, they become a civic culture that can strengthen democracy and improve how government serves people.
How can you help? Begin where you are. Initiate caring actions that are worth repeating. Gather a few trusted people around a project that improves the community. As those efforts grow and connect with others, they become part of a stronger civic culture that works with government to build a better Hawaii.
I hope this website encourages you not only to learn more about my campaign, but also to discover your own role in renewing Hawaii’s civic culture.
Aloha,
